SO GREAT
SALVATION
How
shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first
began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that
heard him; Hebrews 2:3
In whom we have redemption
through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his
grace; Ephesians 1:7
1. GREAT IN
SUBSTANCE
1. It Is A Purchase
"redemption"
Ephesians 1:7
2. It Is A Pardon
"forgiveness" Ephesians 1:7
Jesus purchased it. His
blood was the price. WE are the beneficiaries!!
2. GREAT IN MEASURE
"according"
Ephesians 1:7
1. Unlimited - God’s
standards, not man’s.
And if children, then
heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer
with him, that we may be also glorified together. Romans 8:17
Join theirs with Christ
And hath raised us up
together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Ephesians 2:6
2. Man’s mind cannot
understand it (our
mind is finite, His is infinite)
Beloved, now are we the
sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know
that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as
he is. 1 John 3:2
3. GREAT IN CONDITION
How shall we escape, if we
neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the
Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
Hebrews 2:3
10:14 How then shall they
call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in
him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a
preacher?
10:15 And how shall they
preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet
of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good
things! Romans 10:14, 15
4. GREAT IN
EXPERIENCE
"we have"
Ephesians 1:7
1. It Doesn’t Happen
Without You Knowing It!
(some say, "I’ve always
been a Christian," "I’m a Christian, because my parents
were", etc.)(God has no grandchildren. )
Do not go by feelings, but
rather by the fact of God’s Word!!
5:7 For there are three
that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and
these three are one.
5:8 And there are three
that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and
these three agree in one.
5:9 If we receive the
witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of
God which he hath testified of his Son.
5:10 He that believeth on
the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath
made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his
Son.
5:11 And this is the
record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his
Son.
5:12 He that hath the Son
hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
5:13 These things have I
written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may
know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the
Son of God.
5:14 And this is the
confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his
will, he heareth us: 1 John 5:7-14
5:24 Verily, verily, I say
unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath
everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from
death unto life.
5:25 Verily, verily, I say
unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the
voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
5:26 For as the Father hath
life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
5:27 And hath given him
authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. John
5:24-27
Jesus saith unto him, I am
the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by
me. John 14:6
2. Bible Illustrations of
this great experience
Abraham
And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
Genesis 15:6
Peter And Andrew
And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become
fishers of men. Mark 1:17
Paul
5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom
thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
6 And he trembling and
astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said
unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou
must do.
7 And the men which
journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.
8 And Saul arose from
the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him
by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.
9 And he was three
days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.
10 And there was a
certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a
vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.
11 And the Lord said
unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and
enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold,
he prayeth,
12 And hath seen in a
vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he
might receive his sight.
13 Then Ananias
answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath
done to thy saints at Jerusalem:
14 And here he hath
authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.
15 But the Lord said
unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name
before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
16 For I will shew him
how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.
17 And Ananias went
his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said,
Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as
thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be
filled with the Holy Ghost.
18 And immediately
there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight
forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. Acts 9:5-18
GOD SAID IT - I BELIEVE IT
- THAT SETTLES IT FOR ME!
